I’m crazy about chevron.
It’s modern and funky and adds a cool look to any room, from a baby nursery to a home office.
Caitlin Wilson did this beauty on her own. Can you believe it? Isn’t she clever?!!
Read how she did it here.
If you want to avoid the work, but still want a little pop of chevron, you could go the accessories route.
A little rug action…
Or a chair.
Or order some chevron online and get a local tailor to whip you up some of these curtains. I still don’t know how to use a sewing machine. I really need to learn!
I think I would be the happiest woman EVER if I had a kitchen or bathroom floor that looked like this!
Do you have any Chevron in your home?? If so send me pics at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can showcase them here.
Do you ever walk into a store and think, “This is exactly how I would love my home to look like.”
Well that’s how I feel most of the time when I walk into Z Gallerie. I just got an update on their latest finds and I’m absolutely in love with that rich purple chair, combined with a white glossy chest and a wall of Moroccan style mirrors.
It kind of reminds me of the theme I’ve already got going on in my living room.
So very Hollywood glam.
I got my white tufted headboard this weekend!!
In case you don’t remember, first I had that pretty, ornate gold one, but it just wasn’t comfy to lean back on.
So we got Jannet Howell of Simple Matters on board (no pun intended) and she came up with this beautiful piece.
I am no photographer extraordinaire.
I’m really enjoying relaxing in bed now with a good book, especially on a rainy day (if it ever rains here!)
Simple Matters takes older pieces of furniture, that are sometimes overlooked and makes them look brand new. She also makes brand new headboards. Her work was featured on the Live Well Network.
Her vanities, china cabinets and credenzas are not only functional but full of personality. I”ll have to keep her on speed dial in case I ever have any other pieces that need refinishing!
Sorry I’ve been MIA for the last little while.
But I’ve still been snooping around for design inspiration!
One of my guilty pleasures is the Bachelorette (not a huge fan of this season though). It may seem an odd place to look for design and decor ideas. But there was one past Bachelorette that is also a design star.
Interior Designer and former Bachelorette contestant Jillian Harris recently appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
I just love her cute little Vancouver apartment. It looks so cozy!
This quirky Canadian has some helpful design tips.
Antiquing: Jillian says it’s the perfect way to spend time with the family. Look for older pieces that you can re-invent in a week. Painting and replacing old hardware are quick fixes. “Reuse and repurpose — it’s environmentally conscious and unique!” says Jillian.
In My Own Style
Patterns: Add floral throw cushions to a neutral sofa to add a little attitude. Or if you are brave, re-upholster a chair in a bold pattern.
Create original artwork: Frame old postcards, pictures, momentos in shadow boxes. Jillian picked up some postcards from a street artist in Spain and had them framed. “I paid $3 for the postcard, spent $150 on framing and it looks like a $5,000 piece of art.”
Let your personality shine: Don’t just try to imitate a magazine says Jillian. Get pieces that reflect your life, even if that means a very eclectic look.
Maybe it’s the summer weather, but I”m really in the mood for Paris today.
It’s undeniably an expensive place to visit, but it’s architecture, romance and beauty make up for it.
Did I ever mention that I LOVE, am obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera. I was humming away the Music of the Night whenever I saw anything that reminded me of this haunting love story.
Whenever I”m in Paris or any other place in Europe, I feel inspired to paint and draw. The surrounding beauty just brings out your creative side.
Paris je t’aime!
Today has been a bit of a busy day, so I didn’t get a chance to put together a nice piece on wedding number two!
Today I’m saying Happy Anniversary to my hubbie! Our love story is pretty crazy and too long to tell, but in the end it all worked out because we were meant to be. So here’s a little look at some of the special moments of just one of our wedding days!
