Credenzas aren’t a thing of the past.

There are many ways to update an old looking one that you might have lying around. In my case I’m checking out Craigslist to see what I can find. I’m kind of kicking myself right now because a couple months back our neighbour offered to give me there old credenza, but at the time I had no use for it. Now I wish I had taken up his offer!

These credenzas from Room Service are very fancy schmanzy and good inspiration for what you can do with yours.

I am completely drooling over this Moroccan looking beauty.

Add a little crown moulding and suddenly it’s so very Hollywood chic!

To give a credenza or dresser extra pop, paint the drawers a different colour.

Or go with a really bold laquered finish!

What look would you go for?

There are a few common decorating mistakes that are easy to fall for.

If you are looking to update your room, the first place you might go is a big box furniture stop. And that is just where the problem might start.

The best way to make a room unique is to pick up pieces from different places, instead of just buying a set. Yes it’s more work to go to numerous little shops and vintage dealers, but in the end you will be able to put together a room that is all your own.

So while it is ok to buy a sofa for instance from a big shop, try to bring in different lamps, tables, accent chairs from elsewhere.

Mixing is key!

All of these rooms have one thing in common, colour. Use colour to unite different looking pieces. And it will all still look like you got it together without looking like you just walked into a department store.

There’s only a few movies that I can watch more than once. The Wizard of Oz is one of them.

So when I saw a headline about those famous ruby red slippers, I had to know more.

Dorothy’s famous shoes are going up for auction in December and some estimate they will be worth a pretty penny of two to three million buckaroos!

The shimmery reds from the 1939 film just have a few scuffs on them.

Hearing about this brought about my whole “wish I was a fly on the wall” thing. I always think it would be fun to jump in a time machine and go back in history. Maybe check out an old hollywood film set.

Where it was all about the rouge lips and nails.

This time in movie magic inspired the whole Hollywood Regency look which I am alllll about!

It would be fun to use these pieces to add a punch of colour to a room.

I have sooo many updates, but I ‘ll have to wait till later to get to them.

In the meantime I posted some new pics of our bedroom. Check it out under the Glam in my Home section. The room is coming along nicely, although there are still a few things I want to add/change. And those curtains are perrrrfect because they keep the light out so I can sleep in on the weekends.

Also here’s a sneak peek of the chandelier makeover.

I am still on the hunt for a nice ceiling medallion to give it an extra touch of glam.

Do you ever walk into a store and think, “This is exactly how I would love my home to look like.”

Well that’s how I feel most of the time when I walk into Z Gallerie. I just got an update on their latest finds and I’m absolutely in love with that rich purple chair, combined with a white glossy chest and a wall of Moroccan style mirrors.

It kind of reminds me of the theme I’ve already got going on in my living room.

So very Hollywood glam.

Whaddya think???

Come One Come All

I finally saw Water for Elephants this weekend.

And unfortunately I was disappointed. Maybe that’s because the book was so wonderful that it was hard for the movie to live up to it.

Still the set designs and costumes were nice to look at and the film did give you a flashback to the depression era and circus life.

The shimmery dresses and dark rouge lips reminded me of old hollywood glam.

Having one of these lovely prints would definitely take you back to that time period. Plus who doesn’t love a trip to the circus.

Odd Name, Cool Stuff

Who knew that something you rest your bum on could make for great art work?

Etsy shop Annechovie is full of beautiful prints that I’m just dying to get my hands on!

This bamboo chair is so hollywood regency.

Chinoiserie pot, ahhhh I want!

Artist Anne Harwell even has cute notecards that you can frame.

A chair is not only meant to support you while you sit, but also make you look ultra glam while doing so, don’t you think?
